January 2013

It's the New Year.

That means resolutions have been made (and several have already been broken), goal weights have been set, and the last bits of junk food have been desperately consumed before I feel too guilty to eat again.
I actually started this whole weight loss thing back in July. I was at my highest weight ever, 164.7, and, at 5'4", that wasn't the most flattering weight for me to be. It never really hit me that I was overweight until I saw pictures from prom. Standing there in a line with all of my skinnier friends made me look like an overstuffed sofa. It hurt to see myself like that. So I decided to change.

It wasn't easy. Sticking and staying true to eating healthily is definitely not the easiest thing for me to do--especially considering that I love food, especially the this-is-definitely-bad-for-me kind.

Somehow, I've managed to lose just about twenty pounds. I'm currently at 145, but I'm still not in the healthy weight range for my height. I also haven't hit my goal weight of 130.

I've got to be a man.
I've got to be as swift as a coursing river.
I've got to have all the force of a great typhoon.
I've got to have all the strength of a raging fire.
I've got to be as mysterious as the dark side of the moon.

So here we go. Here's to change. Here's to health.

Here's to looking good in whichever freaking prom dress I want.

I'm an idiot.

A stupid, teenaged, hormonally imbalanced idiot.

Know why?

Because boys.

That's why.

Stupid. Unreadable. Idiotic. Wonderful boys.

One in particular, really.

whomayormaynotmakemesmilejustbyexisting.

Gah, I'm an idiot. I love and hate to be around him all at the same time. When I see him, I just stop thinking sometimes, and then I act like a complete and utter ditz, and I don't know what to do with my awkward self because my limbs decide that they don't want to work properly any more.

I'm just scared. Scared that I've already ruined the crap out of it already. Every time he has asked me to dance, I've turned him down (even though on the inside I was screaming 'yes') , and now he doesn't even bother. It hurts, but it's relieving because I know that I won't have to bother with it anymore... but at the same time... I wish I did.

I hate being a teenager.

Especially a girl.

I'm going to go sleep, now. Maybe things will make more sense in the morning.... As if... it's been this way for months.

Goodnight.

Accidental Apocalypse

Woo! I'm doing NaNoWriMo again this year, and the title of mi novel is 'Accidental Apocalypse'. It's about zombies. It shall be awesome.

Haha, seriously. I'm really excited for this. I am at a little over 7,000 words right now, and I'm hoping to reach 10,000 words by the end of the day. Though I'm kind of procrastinating right now by typing up this blogpost... mehehehe... I'm actually racing one of my friends, Kathleen, to 10,000 and I'm terrified that she will beat me. XD

While I'm really excited for this, I'm also kind of afraid of it. I've never done something of this magnitude in such a teeny amount of time. I mean, yeah, I did it June, but that was a really easy story. I knew about what I was writing. It was personal. It was simple. And I didn't have about a bajillion characters to develop. :P

Seriously. There are so many characters in AA it's insane. I've got...

Peter
Aubrey
Mackenzie
Chelsea
Piper
Sarah
Nate
Luke
Roland (<---my personal favorite, just because he's so... weird)
Mr. Hanson
aaaand
I think that's it.

Yeah. I think the maximum amount of well developed characters I've ever had, was... 4? :P Ahaha, In TDD, I think the only truly developed characters were Aiden, Riley, and Roy. It was terrible. I look back on that story and wonder what the heck was possessing me to write it.

In LtbB, Gavin, Aislyn, Linc, and Lily were the most developed. Callie and Pierre had personality, of course. Callie was the smart model, and Pierre was the gay designer that acted as a bit of comic relief, but I don't really think they had a huge impact on the plot line.

^Those^ characters up there are going to have so much more depth to them than any of the other supporting characters have.

Peter will be a cowardly hero.
Aubrey... well she's the main character. XD
Mackenzie... is mildly important.
Chelsea is a baby. She doesn't do much.
Piper is a bit odd, but will come in handy during the apocalypse.
Sarah is quiet, but brilliant.
Nate is gallant. Like Lancelot or something. He could be a knight of the round table.
Luke shows his bravery in the most unlikely of ways.
Roland... mehehe, Roland. Roland is just awesome.
Mr. Hanson.. well, he's the start of this whole thing. And he goes a little... wooooooo...

Reading over that, I realize that my little blurbs don't actually make any of them seem important. Especially Chelsea. XD

Oh well.

OH!
Before I go.
I want to share a bit of description that I'm actually really proud of. XD

Everyone... meet Mr. Hanson:

Mr. Trevor Hanson was not your typical English teacher. In fact, I really don't think he was your typical person. Almost every day he would come in with a different, ugly, obnoxiously-touristy Hawaiian shirt. His thick, orange-y red hair was always slicked back on the sides, but he let a single curly-cue break free from the rest of the pack and lay against his forehead like the old-school Superman. My friend, Piper, and I had speculated in our freshman year that underneath all of his atrocious shirts he wore his superhero uniform, just in case an emergency ever struck the school. Our theory was proven faulty, however, when the fire alarm went off that same year for drill and he screamed like a girl. Watching a five-foot-ten, two-hundred pound man shriek and bounce up and down was definitely one of the most amusing things to happen that year. To his credit, he did make sure that all of the students got out of the classroom before he did, but after that I couldn't take him seriously. I stuck around in his classes after that, hoping that such an incident would happen again.

Au revoir(:

Seriously, What Is My Life?

So... At about 5 o'clock I had this random desire to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender. So, I pulled up Netflix on the TV and started watching the series from episode one.

I am currently on episode seventeen, and it is 12:36 AM. I kid you not, I have been watching this show for seven and half hours straight. Hence the post title: seriously, what is my life?

Yep. My parents are out of the house, so I spend my evenings watching cartoons, blogging, and writing. I'm such a wild child.

I guess my parents should be thankful or something. I could be out getting high or having sex or something. Instead I'm sitting at home watching a twelve-year-old save the world.

Yep. I strive to make them proud.

I Hate Spiders.

I hate spiders. So, so very much. I especially hate spiders that are in my house. Mostly because they freak the living daylights out of me.

Seriously.

I was going to the restroom. Because, well, I had to use the restroom. I got like a foot away from le toilette, when I saw this wolf-spider the size of my freaking palm (no, not exaggerating. All splayed out, it was the size of my palm) sitting right next to the facilities. It's safe to say that I screamed rather loudly.

Know what my mum did?

She laughed.

Yeeeeeep. Mi madre, upon hearing her only daughter scream loudly in absolute horror and terror laughed. I have this sneaking suspicion that she knew the spider was there and she didn't tell me on purpose so that I could nearly pass out.

Anywho..

I screamed, ran out of the bathroom, yanked the door open and called for my faithful spider-slaying companion: Opus.

For those of you who don't know, Opus is my seventy pound, pure-bred, Urang Airedale.

Opus, hearing one of his favorite words, leaped at the chance to be valiant and came speeding through the door. He stuck his nose to the floor and started searching frantically for an arachnid to send to the fiery pits of Hades. I led him into the bathroom and proceeded to point him as best I could in the right direction. Unfortuanately, the spider chose that opportunity to slip in-between the glass panes of the shower.

If I thought the top of a spider was freaky, it was absolutely nothing compared to the bottom. I shrieked again--though this time not as loud as the initial freak out--and pointed even harder at the spider, saying, "Kill it, Opus. Kill the evil thing. KILL IT."

Opus, being the lovable idiot he is, stared up at the spider, but could do absolutely nothing to remove it from its perch. I realized this and went over to the coat closet and pulled out my dad's hiking stick--my dad's and not my own because my dad's is longer, and I would therefore be able to stand farther away from the spider than I would have otherwise. I started hitting the glass panes with the stick, hoping to dislodge the evil entity and send it into Opus' waiting maw. My plan backfired on me, however, and the spider started climbing higher and higher until it reached the ceiling.

Now, you may think that at that point I would have considered it safe enough to relieve myself, but if you think that, you are thinking wrong. Everyone knows that as soon as you take your eyes off of a spider it runs and hides, waiting for the opportune moment to rush out and kill you. True story.

So, I went outside and grabbed a water-gun, filled it to the brim, and ran back inside to shoot my foe down. I missed the first few times and I was running dangerously low on water. Then, when all hope seemed lost, I HIT IT! It fell into the bathtub. Using the end of the hiking stick, I started to fill the tub with water. The darned thing could walk on water. It could not, however, walk on water whilst being hit with the butt of a rather large staff of wood.

Die, die, die! I raged in my head--and out-loud--as I repeatedly thwacked the spider. It curled up into a little ball, but I continued to hit it until I was absolutely positive that it was dead. Laying the stick down, and leaving Opus to watch the spider's corpse float about in its watery grave, I left the bathroom in search of a bucket with which to fish the thing out of the tub. I was feeling rather victorious at this point. I had successfully slain my enemy and I was about to be rid of it once and for all.

When I got back to the bathroom, though, I was in for a nasty surprise. The spider was still alive. Do you understand what I'm saying here? I had bashed the thing to bits and it. was. still. alive.

That shouldn't even be freaking possible.

I think I almost cried at that point.

Dropping the bucket, I picked the stick up again and pounded the spider mercilessly. I opened up the drain and it started to float down it. When it was halfway in, I slammed the drain shut again and cut the thing in two. I'm so evil.

Just to be sure, I hit it a few more dozen times, and then fished it out of the waters. I held the bucket as far away from my body as possible.

Stupid spider. Ruining my night.

On the bright side, I got the spider out of the bathroom so that I could use it.

Yay...

Beauty?

What's beauty? What defines it?

Do you have to be impossibly skinny to be beautiful?
skinny:*

Or are curves the very definition of beauty?
                                                          curvy!

I look at the world around me and I see girls that are a perfectly healthy weight starving themselves because they're not thin enough and are therefore no longer desirable. Does that mean those of us that are above the healthy weight line are positively disgusting?

My question is: Why should your waistline define your level of beauty?

Girls are squeezing into skinny jeans, depriving themselves of nutrition, looking into the mirror and hating the body they see there just because they don't fit society's idea of beauty.

I know what that's like.

I hate going clothes shopping. I really do.

Have you any idea what it's like to stare at yourself in the mirror and hate your body because you can't wear the clothes you used to?

Hate.
Hate.
Hate.
Hate.
Hate.

It's a strong word.

And I mean it with all of my being.

Look, I don't understand 'beauty'. But hey, skinny girls, how about leaving some for us?

This has been a rant from Danica. It probably didn't make sense. Oh well.
I'm going to go eat an apple or something.
Bye.

Necromorphs Hide in the Dark

I swear the title is relevant, you just have to read through the whole thing mmkay?

Soooo... On Tuesday I hung out with some of the oddest, coolest, weirdest, most ridikulus (Harry Potter reference, sorry.) people ever. And by 'hang out' I mean we played zombie games. And by zombie games I mean Dead Space 2. And by played I mean I took five second turns in which I kicked my legs and screamed "Ohmigosh, NO! I don't like you, go away, go away, goawaygoawaygoawayyyyy!!!".... I think there may have been a few whimpers and nonsense words garbled in there as well--I honestly don't know. Ask Timothy or Jeneva. They were laughing at me the whole time. :P

But seriously. That game is sooo messed up. I was freaking out so much. Screaming. Jumping. Cowering against the couch. (Jeneva was cowering too, for the record. She had a corner she could retreat to. I didn't.) Ahaha, during chapter.... four? Or five. Whichever. There are these things called stalkers. I seriously think that was my longest turn. I was so freaking scared. Like.... when Jeneva and Timothy were playing, yeah, I was freaking out... but when I actually got the remote in my hands it was way different. I was suddenly the person in the game and it was my life on the line here.

...Is that weird...?

Anywho. I actually killed, like, two of them! :D It made me so happy. Then I died. And I wasn't happy anymore.

I got home after that, and watched some TV... Mum asked me to do the dishes, so I was all like 'Okay, sure' and I reached into my pocket for my iPod... but it wasn't there! D: I realized I had left it in the car. So.... I went towards the door, walked outside... and froze.

It was dark. Like... I couldn't see anything. And I thought, "Oh gingersnaps, Necromorphs hide in the dark." Hahaha, it's rather safe to say I didn't retrieve my iPod from the car until the morning. I'm such a coward. XD

Oh, and when I was walking down the (dark) hallway towards my room, I couldn't help but flinch everytime I walked by a door. :P

Ah... Dead Space... You've messed me up for life.
